This tasted like regular instant coffee. I tried the dark roast ( Dawn Patrol) i think was the name and it was great.

I hike to drink coffee. In the past I’ve carried every - heavy - coffee contraption known to try to replicate the delicious coffee I can brew at home. I can now leave all of that stuff at home and just carry a pack of Hero Blend which weighs 6 grams! And unlike other more expensive instant coffee that still has a burnt taste to me, Hero Blend is smooth and rich. I’m now a monthly subscriber. Thank you First Ascent - and thanks to Darwin for introducing me to a great company.

I’m not an instant coffee drinker, however, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of this coffee. Richer than I thought it would be. I bought it on a recommendation by Darwin on the Trail, a UTuber. Well done, hiking this summer will be a touch easier….

This blend was recommended to me by a friend. I was quite comfortable with my previous choice until I reluctantly obliged my buddy and tried it. My 'comfort zone' with my old blend was obliterated to say the least! Moring coffee was merely a part of a regimen. NOW it has become something I look forward to more than ever. Sound corny? I'm sure it does... :-) If you need convincing, I highly simply recommend to you to consider giving it the palate taste test. Who ever said "You cannot teach an old dog new tricks." , has NOT tried this stuff! (you've been warned! ) Have a better day! :-)

I've tried them all and it turns out Hero Day hits the Goldilocks balance I prefer. Love it! In fact, I love the taste so much I prefer to drink it black with nothing added.

It really is very good coffee. I always keep it in my overnight bag because it is so much better that the coffee available in hotel rooms

Got the coffee for some girls doing the Colorado Trail, one of them doing the whole thing to Durango. They're moving light and fast so they love First Ascent!

With some reservation, I tried this out. It is _actually_ better than any other instant I have tried out. Not burnt, not over-done. Pleasant flavor profile. Very good stuff. Have switched to this for on-the-go and trailhead coffee. Recommended!

I keep coming back to First Ascent for a reason when I go camping. Simply because it is the best instant coffee I have ever had! I normally drink cold brew and when I'm camping I have felt incredibly spoiled having a great cup of coffee from an ice cold stream in the morning with this instant coffee. Don't bother trying anything else, First Ascent is the best!

First Ascent is now my favorite go-to instant coffee for backpacking trips. It’s such a treat to be able to make a mug of this on the trail and feel like you’re drinking a brewed cup. I even drink it when I’m at home if I don’t have time to make coffee in the morning.

When I don't have access to my espresso machine to pull a shot in the morning this is the next best thing. I always have First Accent instant on hand and alway travel with several with me. I love the fact that I can have such a great cup of coffee so quick and easy.

Absolute best instant coffee I hafe ever had. Hard to tell its not straight out the espresso machine. Found my goto coffee in a pinch for life.

My first cup of First Accent was on the AT it was instant Hero Day Blend - Best cup of coffee and so appreciated. I ordered more of the Hero Day Blend as a gift for a friend and got a sample of Dawn Patrol - it is awesome! I will be ordering Dawn Patrol for our upcoming hike on the AT.

This is really good coffee. I love the smooth Ethiopian best, but all are very tasty. I subscribed so I could have it whenever I need a great cup of coffee, whether at home or traveling. Love it!

I have been receiving packets of freeze dried coffee for 2 years. It is now all I drink. Tested against Starbucks and others and there is no comparison. This is amazing coffee!!!

There is no other instant coffee that compares to this one. If you have tried others are are still skeptical, this is worth every penny. And if you like some other brands, you’ll love this one!

Liked both of the flavors I purchased. Got it mainly for the mountains and car camping. Just returned from a week in Death Valley and the Dawn Patrol did an excellent job of getting my day started. I did bag a few peaks but alas, no first ascents. Cheers

Definitely well-made. Tastes like well-brewed coffee, easy to reconstitute, just not necessarily the taste I'm looking for in my coffee. Only "issues" are the slightly small amount of coffee it makes, the lack of a rip tab (not a big deal honestly), and the powder sometimes being hard to get out of the little pack if you don't have a wide enough opening.

Can't get over how good this coffee tastes. Love the color almost as much! I am all over getting more. Great podcast on Gear 30 (Blister) - very helpful.

Thanks to my First Ascent instant I never have to sacrifice the quality of my coffee when I travel again! I took some instant Hero Day with me on a trip to FL, it was the perfect pick me up in the airport. I kindly asked for a cup of hot water at one of the coffee chains and was able to make a better cup of coffee instantly than I was able to buy at any of the places in the airport.

First Ascent excels in all every aspect of great coffeee making from bean selection to roasting to freeze drying to packaging. The taste is remarkable and it is now the only coffee I drink!

Amazing coffee Got this for a ski trip that ended up being cancelled due to avalanche danger. This coffee is so good that I chose it over my friend’s fancy French press coffee at their house. Highly recommend.

Everyone who has tasted it is equally surprised and pleased. I liked it so much I ordered another box! So delicious. So easy.

Full flavored One of few instant coffees that doesn't taste like an instant coffee. It has a full and satisfying flavor that I actually wanted to continue drinking. I've been taste testing multiple instant coffees and this has been my favorite thus far. It will likely find a place in my backpack the next time we take to the mountains.

This is instant coffee? Wow! Quality and taste is great for an instant coffee! Gave an overall 4 because it’s a bit pricey and a larger serving (10-12oz) would be better.

Really Good I tried one of these on a whim when First Ascent was selling single packets for $1 with a purchase in-store. I promptly ordered a full box. Surprisingly good instant coffee, and super easy to make (literally just mix one packet into a cup of hot water). This will be my go-to for travel and especially camping.
