The staff favorite espresso blend here in the factory. We are always experimenting and tasting coffee and this blend is the result of that play with coffee. Most blends are combined before they go into the roaster, resulting in an even roast for all the coffee but we wanted the dark chocolate, rich body of Dawn Patrol along with some juicy fruit notes. Combining our Ethiopia natural coffee that has been roasted to highlight those origin notes of bright, juicy strawberries with the darker roasted Dawn Patrol has created an incredibly complex, rich and delicious espresso. Excellent as a shot, americano or with milk.

We roast on Mondays and Thursdays and ship the next day. All orders placed on Monday or Thursday after 9:00 am will be shipped after the next roast day.

Love all the bean and blends at First Ascent but I have finally found my favorite! I've gone through about 10 5lb. bags from single origin and all the blends and Alpenglow hands down is my top pick. I've always thought loving espresso that I'm a "dark roast" gal but it turns out that the Alpenglow Blend brings out more flavor in my home brew with my ROK espresso press and my AeroPress on the go. And I've loved the quality from FA all the way from the roast, to packaging to shipping and outstanding customer service!

Well, I had the pleasure of tasting First Ascent coffee on a camping trip I was on with my family and was taken back when the taste and texture gave me the feeling of making something from my machine at home. Then I had the honor of being at a tasting and talking about the Alpine glow roasted coffee bean blend. I got a bag and took it home with curiosity, and I got an explosion of greatness the next morning. This coffee smooth texture of an earthy semi sweet chocolate on the palete, and the aromas ripe dark fruit, and cabin wood. This blend is a game changer for sure and the roaster did an amazing job creating something for the middle ground coffee lovers because this medium to dark roast coffee is on point. Two things about how I prepare this, first I do send this through an esspresso maker on a grind of 3, and the draw coming out is beautiful. Second, after I taste the coffee black to get all of the characteristics, I add a splash of half and half. I am so happy to speak to Alpine glow and will continue to get more. This small roaster made big changes on my palete for sure.

Like the medium roast Alpenglow, taste and all but I generally like a dark roast for the morning cup or two. On the whole a pretty good satisfying blend and roast. How about another dark roast other than Dawn Patrol (not saying I don’t like DP though!) Thanks for a great coffee!

I first tried your coffee when I had a cup of heroes blend with an amazing piece of cherry rhubarb pie one December at the Sunflower in Crested Butte. What a sumptuous synergy of flavors! the unexpected brightness of the pie complimented with a well rounded, smooth, full bodied brew. the anticipation of new roasts, specifically alpenglow, caught my eye on the website so I ordered some and just finished the 12 ounce bag this morning. It is of fuller body, low acid, and the flavor stays on the palate to savor like a nice wine. The flavor is very satisfying and delivers an oral hug that is so enjoyable as I sip my hot steaming mug of coffee every morning. I look forward to brewing the next roast, dawn patrol tomorrow. Fantastic blend! My wife prefers darker roasts to hold up to oat milk/cream. I drink my coffee with nothing in it, and prefer lighter roasts. This coffee does both well. Extra fresh roasted too.
